Educational Vision
The education offered at our Faculty aims to develop students’ multidimensional thinking, inquiry, and critical and analytical evaluation skills, as well as their creativity, originality, capacity for independent research, and commitment to lifelong learning. In this way, our graduates acquire scientific, intellectual, and social competencies at an international level.
The academic programs and course offerings in our Faculty aim to provide students not only with fundamental scientific concepts, theories, and perspectives but also with current knowledge and approaches. At the core of our educational philosophy lies the development of both theoretical and empirical research skills, as well as the opportunity for students to gain experience by participating in faculty research projects.
Within this framework, students have the chance to engage in direct interaction with faculty members, share their ideas, and receive academic advising. Through its undergraduate and graduate programs, our Faculty equips students with both disciplinary expertise and an interdisciplinary perspective. In this way, our graduates are prepared not only for careers in academia and research but also for leadership roles across diverse sectors, distinguished by their analytical thinking and professional competence.
Academic Opportunities and Learning Environment
In line with its commitment to interdisciplinary studies, our Faculty offers 45 double major programs and 1 minor program across its departments. These programs bring together different disciplines, providing students with opportunities for multifaceted academic development.
Through the wide pool of elective courses available in all undergraduate programs, students are able to pursue their interests and talents across diverse fields. Each semester, our Faculty offers approximately 200 courses, and with additional sections, this number reaches nearly 300.
Our curriculum creates a multicultural and multilingual learning environment through elective courses focusing on the origins and history of various art forms, as well as courses offered in different languages such as Ottoman Turkish, Laz, Kabardian, Abkhaz, and Turkish Sign Language. In addition, certificate programs such as Creative Writing and American Studies are open to all students.
This wide and diverse pool of courses provides students with the opportunity to explore different academic and cultural fields within the humanities and social sciences, specialize in areas of interest, and gain intellectual depth.
Our Faculty hosts some of the most competitive departments in Türkiye, attracting top-ranking students in the Turkish-Mathematics, Turkish-Social Sciences, and Language tracks of the national university entrance exam.
Our student body is enriched by individuals from diverse geographical regions and socio-cultural backgrounds across Türkiye, as well as by international students who join each year through Erasmus and other exchange programs. This diversity not only fosters academic excellence but also cultivates intercultural interaction, the development of social skills, and individual competencies—contributing to a high-quality learning environment.
Scientific Research and Productivity
Our Faculty places great importance on research and publication activities that focus not only on the fundamental issues of the humanities and social sciences but also on current individual and social problems. Numerous projects conducted within the Faculty are supported by our University’s Scientific Research Projects (BAP) funds, as well as by national and international institutions such as the private sector, TÜBİTAK, and the European Union.
Undergraduate and graduate students actively participate in these projects, gaining valuable research experience. Graduate students, in particular, are encouraged to present project findings at academic conferences in Türkiye and abroad and to engage in publication processes.
The outcomes of these research activities are disseminated through publications in scientific journals, books, and academic conferences, and are shared both with the academic community and the broader public. These outputs aim to identify current problems through scientific methods and contribute to the development of viable solutions.
Our Graduates and Future Vision
Our graduates who pursue an academic career are admitted with scholarships to master’s and doctoral programs at leading universities in Türkiye and around the world. Those who continue their careers in the private sector successfully work in diverse fields within national and international companies, transforming their academic training into professional competence.
By cultivating individuals equipped with critical thinking, academic expertise, and social sensitivity, our Faculty continues to contribute to knowledge production and to cultural and societal problem-solving. With innovative, sustainable, and multidimensional approaches—and guided by the principles of academic excellence and scientific productivity—our Faculty is committed to strengthening its position as a leading institution in the humanities and social sciences both in Türkiye and internationally.
